| Long ago, after the turn of the century, a group of rowdy youth
embarked on their annual Thanksgiving ski trip- a trip that would
forever change the course of Carpathian-kind. Over the course of
that warm, snow-less weekend (another annual tradition)- the group
forced to survive on top of a tall mountain on just chips, soda,
cold pizza and cable TV (the 4 food groups)- much intellectual
discussion took place (relative strengths of Mickey Mouse vs
Superman etc.). From one drunken conversation, came the forming
of a basketball league. Thus was born the Carpathian Basketball League (CBL). That first CBL season was a tremendous success- for the team with non-drunks which were forced to keep four future hall of famers on their roster and easily won the first championship. With each passing season, the success of the CBL grew along with its disabled list and average gut size. Today, the CBL continues on its path of excellence and strives to one day sign a network television contract (America's Funniest Home Videos and the Jerry Lewis Telethon seem promising).
